Hand Stripping Pumice Stone Lava

These 3" x 2" volcanic pumice is ideal for hand stripping. Pumice easily grips dead coat and fits in either hand. If the stone is too wide, it is easily to cut in half. The more porous natural lava stones work well for harsher more coarse coats. The lighter grey pumice stones are less porous and a great for less harsh coats or finer detailed work.

 ProTip:

Card the coat first to get required undercoat removed. Then hand strip by pulling the hair straight out without twisting or bending your wrist; otherwise the hair gets cut or breaks. You should see a bulb at the end of the hair to show that it was pulled out at the follicle. Ideally hand stripping should be every 3-4 weeks.
